Checkpoints, signing and feeding There will be three checkpoints en-route (2 for the short option). Riders must get their route cards signed with their starting time and stamped at each checkpoint and the finish to qualify as a finisher. We will do our best to signpost all the junctions on both rides but riders are advised to familiarise themselves with the course. Full route instructions will be provided along with timing cards on the day. The condition of the roads is generally good with occasional sections of rough or gravelly surfaces, although either route can be ridden on any kind of bike. Food and drink will be provided at all three feeding stations for all riders but being the Cotswolds, there are plenty of tea shops on both routes. A particular favourite of David’s was the Lady Jane tea rooms in Winchcombe, at the half-way point of the longer circuit. David often used to eat there after watching the Tour of the Cotswolds road race on the climb of Corndean Lane. Other café options are at:

  • Charlbury (both routes)
  • Shipston-on-Stour (long route only)
  • Winchcombe (long route only)
  • Stow-on-the-Wold (short route only)
  • North Leach (both routes)

General courtesy Riders should be aware that the Circuit of the Cotswolds is not a race. Due care should be taken, particularly when descending and riding on some of the narrower and bumpier roads. Please also be aware that the Cotswolds can get quite crowded in the summer – please be considerate to other people enjoying the scenery, even if they are stuck in tin boxes! Remember that the future of the event depends on everyone being courteous to other people they meet, whether residents or visitors.
